Daemon Invasion!

Over the last couple of weeks, you’ve heard us talking about the upcoming #daemoninvasion and we’re so excited to finally share with you what is going on.
Really excited.

The beautiful and uber cool models, Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz, who grace the Lux covers, will be joining us in the United States!  You heard right.  They are flying here, from Hungary to spend a few days as Daemon and Katy! While they are here, they will be working with Vania, from VLC Productions (the team behind Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments, Melissa de La Cruz, Kimberly Derting, Moira Young, Kami Garcia and Margret Stohl, Hillary Duff, Lauren Destefano, and many, many more authors’ book trailers), to film book trailers for the Lux Series.

During the filming in Atlanta, they will be accompanying us on tour! What does that mean? You get to meet them. In the flesh. They will be participating in the signings and events. At those signings, we’ll be giving away signed posters, photos, and other swag. There will also be meet and greet events you can join in on.

At each signing, there will be advanced copies of Onyx given away!
And to top things off (as if this isn’t enough, but we don’t do anything small), there’s something very, very exciting in the works! It involves advanced copies of Opal, water, and a little destination known as the Bahamas.
I am not kidding.

This will be epic.

Aare you excited? I am! This tour is going to be so, so much fun, and I’m so thrilled that Pepe and Sztella are a part of it. We owe them a huge thank you and a giant welcome making the 16 hour flight to meet the readers of the Lux Series.  You!

Top Ten All Time Favorite Characters

It's Top 10 Tuesday (hosted at The Broke and the Bookish) and the topic is Top 10 All Time Favorite Characters

1. Rose Hathaway
Aww, I think she will me my all time favourite character forever <3 <3 I just love Rose. She's kickass, she is strong, she is fierce, she has courage, and she is the best! Her passion and love and the way her mind works. Amazing. "I'm saying there's a fire in you that drives everything you do, that makes you need to better the world and those you love." Perfect <3

2. Daemon Black
Oh boy, this guy!! OMG if I just think about him, I am drooling all over. Because seriously? He is the hottest character EVER. And his sarcasm.. I wish I would find a guy with a sarcasm like that. And to be hot like that.

3. Jace Wayland
Aw, Jace. He is completely adorable and I will love him forever. I think when he's broken I love him even more <3 And he's sexy. And he knows it :P

4. Ash
My winter prince. Maybe it would sound weird, but I loved Ash the most in the second book. He was just so in between what he wanted and what he should have done, what was right. And no matter how much he fought, he couldn't deny what he wanted. And I loved him for that.

5.  Anna
I loved Anna in Anna and the French Kiss because she was such a nice and real character, that you could completely connect with her. She's a girl with all her insecurities and it was easy to feel what she felt.

6. Archer
Oh God, this boy!! I love this boy! He is adorable, sarcastic, funny and completely hot. In all the three books of the Hex Hall serie, he haven't disappointed me once. He's the best!

7. Alex
In Half-blood she was a kickass. But in Pure she was purely amazing. She is fierce, she has courage, she can be so so angry and she fights for herself. And I love her for that!

8. Lila
Aw, Lila, Lila. She is such a nice character. She is so insecure and strong in the same way, that you just need to love her. She is amazing. Oh, and lets not forget about Alex.. ;) <3

9. Harper
Oh my, Saving June was such a beautiful read. And Harper, she is so real. And she is so angry with the world. And she fights to stay put. She's amazing.

10. Lennie
Well, I need to include Lennie for The Sky is Everywhere, because she inspired me to write poetry myself. She's so broken, and she doesn't know what to do with her life with her sister gone. And her poems... Oh my God, you need to see these poems. They are perfect. So simple, but perfect. I wish I could write poems like that.

I hope I didn't forget about some really cool kickass characters on my way. :P You can check my Top 10 list of favourite female characters and my Top 10 list of my favourite book boyfriends, if you like :)

So, what on your Top 10 list this week? Let me know in the comments :)

-- Goodreads.com description

Aaaaaaaaaa it's beautiful <3 <3 I really like it!! And it does match with the dark mood in book two! Aww, I can't wait to read it! The end of the first one left me with my jaw on the floor at 11AM in the morning after reading the whole night!! Mara can't wait to see what you'll do next!!

What do you think of the cover? :)

Funny moments in life

I'm pretty sure my friend isn't checking this.. and since his birthday is tomorrow, doesn't really count. So, I and my friend Božo decided to buy our friend a book for his birthday. The fact that I read more books, Božo decided I should pick which book to buy for a present. I decided because he is a guy, to buy The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I loved this book! And it's not a girly book, so the decision was made.

But, I order all my books to my home address. And due to the fact that I wasn't home since the middle of March.. well, we needed the book to come here, where I study. So my mum sent it to me. She sent it on Friday, so I guessed today the book would come.

And here comes the funny part.

I live in a student hostel, and all the post arrives in the mail office. The main office is surrounded by glass so you can see inside perfectly. I was walking normally to the office. And then I spotted a package and I started running. There were 3 people outside the office and the director of the student hostel inside the office. I reached the door and tried to open it. I was pulling it at the wrong way. People were staring. And when I finally managed to open it I got in and grabbed the package and looked at it, and when I saw my name on it, I hugged the book so hard. A smile, big like the world, spread on my face and I started jumping in the middle of the office. People were still staring. lol. And then I acknowledged all the people and I was like "huh". And then the director asked me "what's inside?" and I was like "A book" with a smile on my face that people would think I won on the lottery. Ah. And then I said thank you and went outside. The people outside the office were looking at me. So I looked at them and that awkward moment was there. I said, "Well, have a good day." And they burst out laughing like crazy. I managed a smile and fled.

It was fun. And nonetheless it's actually a present for my friend, I needed to make a picture with this amazing book <3 (read: lots of pictures :P)

Should be a little embarrassing really, but actually, it's not :P We are all a bit bookish, right? :) I mean, look at this genuine smile :D

Ah, I love this book so so much. If you haven't read it yet, I seriously dare you to do it soon. This book is beautiful. You can read my review here.

Ok, it was nice to share my awkward/embarrassing moment with you! Now, I'm gonna go :P

Lots of Love,

Read-a-thon, Hour 8, Mini challenge: Book Staging

Woow, it's already hour 8!! And it's fun :) I haven't read that much (150 pages), because hell, with all the mini challenges and twitter and cheering and updating, well, time flies :P

So, this mini challenge is about book staging. I like it! You need to put a stage of a book, so others will want to read it :) In the picture you should have the book in a setting, or surrounded by items, that represent the book.  It can mimic the cover, or represent characters/events/etc from the story.  Basically, make us want to read the book based on picture alone.

I decided to use New Moon. Yeah, I know, many of you don't like Twilight. But I do. And I have a really deep conection with New Moon. I was reading it for a year while I was making my Erasmus, and if it wasn't for the book, I think I would have gone nuts. I know pretty sad, that I've connected with this book out of all the books in the serie, but this book helped me cope. I felt so lost there and alone. So, my book stage will be up on New Moon.

Aww, this was so much fun! I must admit, I am really enjoying this Read-a-thon! :)
How's going yours so far? :)

Read-a-thon, Hour 5, Mini challenge: Book Sentense

Awww, hour 5 is already here!! And I am having an awesome time! :)

So the fifth mini challenge is to make a book sentense using the titles of books! I love this challenge! So here it is:
If you could see me now embrace paranormalcy on the road.

This was so much fun! And also, the weather here it's a bit crazy today, some time it's raining, some time it's so sunny. And here it's a picture of the rainbow, that I've made an hour ago :)

Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout Review

Pure
The Covenant #2
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Published on April 3rd 2012
Spencer Hill Press, 329 pages
Find the title on Goodreads

There is need. And then there is Fate...

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

- Goodreads.com description

I loved Half-blood, but seriously? There's really no comparison. I thought Half-blood was so so good, but Pure put the story into a completely another level. Pure is made of pure awesomeness. It's made of magic.

The story is amazing. Sometimes it's heart-breaking. Lots of times it's hilarious. But most of all there is action. Real action! And I love it. Because you feel so so nervous and scared for Alex and you have this crazy wish you could jump in the book and fight on her side :)

Alex. I can't believe how much she has grown up as a character! She's even more icredible than before. And I love her new philosophy - No being stupid or irresponsible, but just irrational - I love it!! I couldn't agree more with Seth when he said “You’re a bit crazy. You throw apples in people’s faces when you’re angry. You go off half-cocked half the time. It entertains me to no end. So if you are irrational, I hope you stay that way. I love it.”

The Boys.
Aiden. Ahh Aiden . He is adorable. Ok, they have some fights with Alex, but when don't they? He's nice and sweet and supportive. At some point I was hopping he would explain a bit better the complications within their relationship.. but well, it's Aiden we are talking about. He doesn't talk that much anyway. I still like him.

Seth. Oh my God, Seth ♥. He was intriguing before, but this? Hehe, he is just awesome. I love him! He is crazy. He is funny. He is so completely different from others. And in this book we actually see how much he cares for Alex. And I love that! Because behind that nice smile there is a person with lots of thoughts and feelings. I love that in this book we get to know Seth better. And I really enjoyed reading about him.

Overall, this book is amazing and I can honestly say that it's one of the best books ever written. Jennifer did an awesome job with it. I can't wait for Deity! In my opinion, I think it will be fabulous!

So, if you've been living under a rock and you don't know yet about the Covenant serie, I highly recommend it to you! There is action, there is romance, there is friendship, and there is excitment! ;)

So, my dear reader have you enjoyed Pure? Tell me about it!! :)

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood Review

Born Wicked
The Cahill Witch Chronicles #1
by Jessica Spotswood
Published on February 7th 2012
Putnam Juvenile, 330 pages
Find the title on Goodreads

Everybody knows Cate Cahill and her sisters are eccentric. Too pretty, too reclusive, and far too educated for their own good. But the truth is even worse: they’re witches. And if their secret is discovered by the priests of the Brotherhood, it would mean an asylum, a prison ship—or an early grave.

Before her mother died, Cate promised to protect her sisters. But with only six months left to choose between marriage and the Sisterhood, she might not be able to keep her word... especially after she finds her mother’s diary, uncovering a secret that could spell her family’s destruction. Desperate to find alternatives to their fate, Cate starts scouring banned books and questioning rebellious new friends, all while juggling tea parties, shocking marriage proposals, and a forbidden romance with the completely unsuitable Finn Belastra.

If what her mother wrote is true, the Cahill girls aren’t safe. Not from the Brotherhood, the Sisterhood—not even from each other.

- Goodreads.com description

Ok, a lot of people rate this book very high. Honestly, I don't have a clue why.

The plot was set good. I liked the idea of the story. But hell, it took 3/4 of the book to finally have some action. I hated the Brotherhood society and their view of a woman - this was horrible. I don't think myself as a feminist, but this was just too much. The woman should not be intelligent should not want to study, she just need to obey her husband and stupid shit like that. OMG I wanted to slap them all.

Ok, the witches are bad. The society is build on the fact that witches are bad and they should all be exterminated. So, Cate is a witch. Also her two sisters, Maura and Tess, are witches. And they are powerful. But they don't know that yet, because their mother died before she could teach them all about magic.

Then there is this prophecy. Saying that three sisters, witches, will be born before the end of the twentieth century and the one witch which will posses the power of mind controlling, will be the most powerful witch in the history. Cate has mind control magic.

Cate. Oh my God. You know, young adult books, should be based on strong female character. Fucking hell, Cate doesn't have a S of a Strong female character. I honestly don't get it. The prophecy says you are the most powerful witch in history, and you let yourself be guided by just EVERYONE? Oh please, come on! Ok, she does have a snapping attitude, and she cares a lot for her sisters, but come on, a little self-confidence? Belief in yourself?

Her sisters. Oh my, Maura is the typical annoying character, who thinks she know everything better and everyone else don't. The more you want her good, the more she thinks you don't want her to be happy and that you're jealous. I would have slapped her, if I was Cate. Tess. Tess is the younger sister and she is very clever and good. I liked her a lot.

The romance. Ok, the romance was good, thought I didn't agree with many choices Cate made. In the beginning she wanted something, then she wanted something else. But that's not the point. What I didn't like was that she always thought about the problems occurring her relationship - as in what will other think? Paul wasn't good because he wanted to move in another city and she couldn't be away from her sisters. Finn wasn't good because of his family business and that was a danger to her sisters.

Maybe it wasn't Cate's fault. I mean, her mother really haven't left her any good advices. And with a society that repress and disgust everything you represent.. I get it, it must be hard. But still!! Being the most powerful witch EVER should count for something, damn it!!

SPOILER Alert!
And another thing. Trough the whole book, we listen to her saying she would do anything for her sisters. She kept saying she would sacrifice her happiness and her life for them. But does she really? I mean, when Maura freaks out and Brother Ishida sees everything and acusse Maura and Tess for witchery, what does Cate actually do? She doesn't say anything and she even let him hit her. Hit her. You have the power of mind controlling and you claim you'd anything for your sisters, and then, when they do actually need you, you just stand there? If it wasn't for Tess, both of them would have been sent to the madhouse. Cate here failed me the most.

I've read this book, because Mimi really liked it, and thought, we have usually the same taste, I would read it. Mimi, sweety, this must be the first time I don't agree with you :P But don't worry, that doesn't mean I changed my mind about us having the same taste. After all, there are exceptions that confirm the rule, right? :)

Now my dear readers I don't want to discourage to read this book. Like I said, many people found it awesome, but I guess it just wasn't my type ;) And OMG this must be my first kind of negative review EVER. But after finishing the book, I just couldn't not say anything about it.
Have you read this book? What have you thought about it? :)
