Welcome to New York City’s Upper East Side, where my friends and I live, go to school, play, and sleep—sometimes with each other.

S is back from boarding school, and if we aren’t careful, she’s going to win over our teachers, wear that dress we couldn’t fit into, steal our boyfriends’ hearts, and basically ruin our lives in a major way. I’ll be watching closely . . .

You know you love me,

xoxo

I cannot begin to tell you what a disappointment this was for me. I can't even... Hell.

I am a big fan of the Gossip Girl series. I discovered it this summer (lame I know, I've been living under a rock apparently) and I fell in love with it. Cause really, who didn't fall in love with Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf?

And in the fall when a friend told me there were books as well I was ecstatic! I was like "Oh my God this is like the best news ever, I cannot wait to devour these books!" HA. Little did I know!

After all the exams and holidays and stress I finally set down to read it. And I swear, if it was any other book I would have DNF-ed it straight away. What the fuck did I just read?

I was used to Serena, Blair, Chuck and the rest to be occasionally mean toward each other.. but this? This was straight forward nasty. And there even wasn't any scheming - that we know Blair and Chuck are so good at! No enjoyable drama whatsoever.

And Nate.. Oh God. What was that? He is so clueless, self-entitled, selfish, a proper jerk in the books. I could not believe it.

The writing was.. awful. Awful like Fifty shades of grey awful, only there was no sex in it. Or proper nice kissing, at that. The writing kind of improved in the second book You Know You Love Me (Gossip Girl #2), but not under any extend that you would say wooow. It just sucked a little less.

There was no plot whatsoever. Neither in the first book, nor in the second book.

So, I checked the reviews of all the books after I finished the second one. Cause I was like - When is Chuck Bass going to enter the picture?! HA. Never. You heard me. Never. All the 12 books are apparently about Nate jumping between Blair and Serena. And at than point I had enough. I was like No, just no.

So, if you are a big fan of Gossip Girl TV show like me, I would advise you to stick to the TV show. Or, at the very least, don't expect magic or anything extraordinary from the books, cause unfortunately there was none.
